Postcard From Frankfurt

Well, we didn’t win at the Grammys the other night.

Much as I would’ve loved to be sitting there waiting to hear our name called, Eric in his tux, me in something swell from TJ Maxx, it was not to be.

Anyway, we were too busy playing in Zurich.

We’ve got one more show in Berlin tonight and then the drive home. We’ve been having a great time on this tour, riding through the Alps in our ambulance that has a bed, sink, kettle and cute rug and stuff. We can make cups of tea and fix sandwiches with the ham and cheese and amazing German bread from our dressing room the night before.

It’s almost like a Robert Plant and Alison Krauss tour bus, only a tenth of the size. But I bet their bus doesn’t have an oxygen tank and stomach pump.

Man, Amy, I’d forgotten completely about the German bread! That was always something to look forward to on Drifters tours over there, although life started to seem like one big continuous deli tray after a while.Best to you both,(and you’re always a winner regardless of NARAS voting)Peter

I’d better not tell Mysweet about the extra luxury fittings or he’ll be wanting to put them in our elderly camping car.Come to think of it, I remember him telling me a tour yarn about a gas cylinder…but then again, perhaps it was nitrous oxide and not oxygen.

I meant to say (and quite possibly did, if the truth be told I’m not paying much attention at the moment) when you posted that business about turning a certain age; that Sue and I can only endure trips to Hobart (the big smoke, population approx 100,000) by taking sandwiches and a thermos of proper tea. Last time we went we were exhausted by about 3pm, but a cup of proper tea (which you can’t get in the big city), and we were ready to face more stupidity! I don’t think there is a problem of age, or fashion sense going on, it’s just a matter of quality. And addiction to tea.

TBNIL I think yo’ve given me the title of my next song.Yes Morgan, standards! We’re entitled to have them after a while…Rosie we were just discussing a gas cylinder for cooking – frightening as it sounds in a moving vehicle. Not yet, Janine!”one big continuous deli tray” – you are always so on the money Peter.
